Baron Andus Lothlier

The Baron is the head of the thieves guild in the Estalian city of Magritta. He came to the players attention when he stole a magical Whip from one of the players who had paid a local mage to have it enhanced. When they returned to collect it it, and the mage, were gone. 

Lothlier is a cruel and despotic leader who commands loyalty through fear. He has grown fat and more rat-like in his underground lair under the warehouse he runs in the docks. His greed is legendary. Will his theft of the item from the players be his undoing??

  • Dual Wielder: Allows him to use two-weapon fighting even with non-light melee weapons, and gives a +1 bonus to AC when wielding a separate melee weapon in each hand.
  • Tough: Adds extra hit points, increasing his survivability in battle.

Special Abilities

Rogue Abilities:

  • Sneak Attack: +6d6 damage once per turn when he has advantage or another enemy of the target is within 5 feet.
  • Evasion: Can dodge certain area effects, such as a red dragon’s fiery breath or an ice storm spell.
  • Uncanny Dodge: Use reaction to halve damage from an attack that hits him.

Barbarian Abilities:

  • Rage: Can rage 4 times per long rest, gaining advantage on Strength checks and saves, +2 to melee damage with Strength weapons, resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
  • Unarmored Defense: AC equals 10 + Dexterity modifier + Constitution modifier when not wearing armor.
  • Reckless Attack: Can choose to attack with an advantage at the expense of giving attackers an advantage against him.

Equipment

  • Magic Thieves' Tools: Provide a bonus to lockpicking and disarming traps.
  • Cloak of Protection: +1 to AC and saving throws.
  • Twin Daggers: +1 magical daggers that can be thrown or used in melee combat.
